Based on 2.4GHz RFID Reader and Active Tag Technology

1. Project Background

With the continuous improvement of enterprise informatization, traditional attendance methods (e.g., swipe cards, fingerprint) suffer from inefficiency, vulnerability to fraud, and difficulty in real-time location tracking. To achieve contactless attendance and real-time employee tracking, this solution adopts 2.4GHz Active RFID technology to realize automated, accurate, and efficient employee management.

2. System Components

2.1 Hardware Devices

Device Type

Function Description

2.4G RFID Reader

Receives active tag signals and uploads them to the backend. Typical reading distance ranges from 30 to 400 meters.

2.4G Active Tag

Periodically sends ID signal; worn as a badge or card. Low power consumption for long-term use.

Server / Edge Terminal

Processes, stores, and manages data; can be deployed locally or in the cloud.

2.2 Software System

Attendance Module: Automatically records clock-in/out times, tracks tardiness and early departures, issues alerts for anomalies.

Tracking Module: Real-time location tracking, historical trajectory playback, area stay statistics.

Area Access Control: Define access permissions for different zones and integrate with security systems.

Visualization Dashboard: Displays employee distribution and attendance statistics via web or large screen.

Mobile App (Optional): For admin patrol, alert push notifications, and remote control.

3. Working Principle

3.1 Each employee wears a uniquely coded 2.4G active tag.

3.2 Multiple 2.4G RFID readers are installed across the facility, including entrances, corridors, and critical areas.

3.3 Tags periodically (e.g., every 1second) send ID signals.

3.4 Readers receive the tag signals and upload them to the server for location analysis.

3.5 Based on the reader’s location and tag ID, the system achieves:

Automatic Attendance: No manual check-in required; presence is detected automatically.

Tracking: Combines reader data to record movement paths.

Alerts: Triggers warnings for unauthorized entry, prolonged stays, or absence.

4. Deployment Recommendations

Area Type

Suggested Deployment Density

Entrance/Exit

1–2 readers per entrance/exit (cover full passage).

Corridors

1 reader every key point.

Key Workstations/Workshops

1 reader per workstation or workshop.

Outdoor Areas

Adjust reader power based on environment and add protective measures.

5. Technical Advantages

Automatic Identification: No manual operation required; system auto-detects presence.

Long Reading Distance: Strong signal penetration, suitable for complex environments.

Low Power Tags: Battery life of 3 years.

High Concurrency: Supports recognition of hundreds of tags simultaneously.

Strong Integration: Can interface with HR, access control, and video surveillance systems.

6. Application Scenarios

Factory employee management

Hospital staff positioning

Construction site labor supervision and safety monitoring

Laboratory access control

Smart park employee tracking

7. Summary

The employee attendance and tracking management solution based on 2.4G RFID technology provides high efficiency, low maintenance, automation, and intelligent capabilities. It significantly enhances enterprise workforce management and meets both production and security needs, making it a powerful upgrade from traditional HR systems.
